SRT Shakespeare In The Park : Macbeth | 13 May 2025

It was really an amazing experience to be working behind the scenes of a show such as this, as I got to learn how Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) manages their productions and what goes behind on making the whole event successful. As being part of the Front-Of-House (FOH) crew, I was able to experience interacting with the visitors and having hands on bag checks and ticketing. Watching part of the show was also exciting! The lights, the set, the acting and placement of actors on stage and off - everything was so eye-opening and just incredible to see in real life!

I was glad to volunteer for this event that was organised by my diploma, as not only I get to apply my basic skills of what I've learnt in my modules, but I also got to meet other students from the same course (DATM), from Year 1s to alumni! This was such a fun experience as I got to see various local bands perform right there in our Black Box and it was amazing to see how local music is really growing in Singapore. As part of FOH crew, I got to experience with handling ticketing of visitors and also merchandise sale. Lucky for us, we got to enjoy the music of the bands as well and it was such a good end to the night!

Singapore Night Festival 2025 (Children's Museum Singapore) |

I really love this volunteering work because I was able to get myself involved with children, and it was a different perspective all in all to see how we work in settings where young kids are present! As part of FOH team, I also helped out with the setting of the installations at Fort Canning Rise, which is one of few places that visitors will arrive and experience the fun atmosphere. Even though I felt like most of the props used were simple yet cute, but I learnt how important it is to ensure that everything is accounted for and in good condition as we strike down and return everything back to the main area. This taught me a sense of responsibility and patience as well, as we were working in an open space so we have to maintain good discipline too as we represented RP!
